Origin Story

The minutes of something that mattered.

These are the actual call notes. The real numbers. The moments we almost didn't make it.

Week 1 โ€” March 2023

The First Call

Four strangers on a Zoom call. Marcus had been building his invoicing tool for nine months and shown it to no one. Priya had three half-finished landing pages. Daniel kept saying "almost ready." We went around the room. Everyone had a secret project they were too scared to share publicly. The call was supposed to be 45 minutes. We talked for two hours.

The First Rejection Email

Priya read her rejection email out loud. Word for word. The cold outreach that came back as "not a good fit." We told her to send 40 more before the next call. She sent 47. Three replied. One became her first paying customer at $49/month. She screenshot the Stripe notification and posted it at 11:43pm on a Tuesday.

The "Almost Quit" Call

Daniel showed up to the call with a resignation letter โ€” not from his job, from the group. "I've been at this for eight months and I'm still at zero." We pulled up his landing page. The headline said "A better way to manage tasks." We spent 40 minutes rewriting it on the call. He launched with the new copy the next morning. Seven signups in 48 hours.

Three Members Quit Their Jobs

In the same week, three members handed in their notice. Not because we told them to โ€” because the calls had made it impossible to keep pretending the projects weren't real. Marcus hit $4,800 MRR. Priya crossed $3,100. Daniel was at $2,700 and climbing. We didn't celebrate with champagne. We showed up the next Tuesday and asked what they were shipping next.
